Welcome, nurses of the internet. If you clicked on this listicle, you already know that nurses' duties are often downplayed. Unfortunately, most peoples' knowledge of nursing comes from a couple of yearly check-ups and Grey's Anatomy, thus it is no wonder that they tend to perceive nurses as subservient background NPCs that are subject to doctors' whims. While doctors certainly deserve all the praise that they get, nurses are truly the backbone of the medical world. They work incredibly long shifts, sacrifice holidays and special events to care for strangers, put their lives on the line by coming into contact with all sorts of diseases, and deal on the daily with unreasonable people that try their patience and disrespect them.
